Why Hearing Well Means Living Well

Hearing loss doesn’t simply make the world quieter; it also limits the sound signals your brain receives.

According to the NIH, around 37.5 million Americans experience some degree of hearing loss. Over time, this lack of stimulation can lead to challenges with speech comprehension and even contribute to cognitive decline.

Eventually, the brain may “forget” certain sounds.

This is why treating hearing loss early is very important. With Paradise Hearing’s comprehensive hearing evaluation, you’ll discover where your hearing stands today and how to keep it strong for tomorrow.

Signs of Hearing Loss

Hearing loss often occurs gradually over a few years.

For this reason, it can be difficult to recognize the signs of hearing loss, especially if you have been missing sounds for some time. Often, it is a family member or close friend who will notice the signs of hearing loss before you do.

If a loved one has suggested you have your hearing tested, you should make an appointment with us. We can test your hearing to see if you qualify for hearing aids.

Some common signs of hearing loss include:

  • You often ask people to repeat themselves.
  • It seems like everyone around you mumbles.
  • You have a hard time understanding people when there is background noise.
  • You feel tired after conversations.
  • You have difficulty hearing the person on the other end of the phone.
  • You hear a ringing in your ears.
  • You turn the TV volume up higher than people would like.

What Happens During Our Hearing Exam

Want to try our free hearing test, but not sure how it works? We understand.

Here's a quick walk-through of our hearing evaluation process and what happens at every step.

Step 1. Questions About

Your Hearing

We’ll start with a friendly conversation about your hearing and how it affects your everyday life.

You’ll be asked simple questions, like when you first noticed changes, if you experience ringing in your ears (tinnitus), or if you’ve had any dizziness. We’ll also go over your basic health history to identify any possible health connections.

After that, our hearing specialist will have you undergo hearing tests to assess the severity of the case.

Step 2. Reviewing

Your Test Results

After your free hearing test, we’ll explain what sounds you may be missing and how that connects to your daily experiences.

Bringing a family member or close friend can be helpful as they can support you, ask questions, and help you remember all the details.

Step 3. Referrals

If Needed

If we see something that should be checked by a medical doctor who specializes in ear health, we’ll let you know right away. Getting a referral can be an important first step before moving forward with hearing aids.

Step 4. Exploring Hearing

Aid Options

If permanent hearing loss is detected, we’ll walk with you step by step through the hearing aid solutions available.

You’ll get to see and handle the devices, and we’ll explain what each one can do for your hearing.

Step 5. Finding the Best

Fit for You

Sometimes, you’ll even be able to try on a hearing aid to hear the difference for yourself. And that’s perfectly fine!

Together, we’ll consider your lifestyle, degree of hearing loss, and budget to help you choose the hearing aid that feels just right. The final decision is always yours.

Step 6. Customization

and Ordering

Once you’ve chosen, we’ll take ear impressions (if needed) and order your devices.

Every hearing aid is custom-fit to match your unique hearing needs and ear shape. That’s why this process usually takes a few days to a couple of weeks.

Step 7. Talking Through Payment Options

At the end of your visit, we’ll go over the different payment choices available.

Our goal is to make better hearing possible for everyone, so we offer flexible plans that can fit a variety of budgets. No pressure, just support!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are free hearing tests actually free?

Hearing loss can be caused by a number of factors. The most common causes of hearing loss include genetics, age, loud noise exposure, medications, infections, head or ear trauma, or a blockage in the ear canal. Whatever has caused your hearing loss, we can perform a hearing evaluation to determine if you could be helped by hearing aids.

  • What level of hearing loss requires a hearing aid?

Yes, there are several different degrees of hearing loss. When deciding which hearing aids will best help you, we must look at the severity of your hearing loss. Hearing loss is categorized as mild, moderate, moderately severe, severe, and profound. No matter what degree of hearing loss you have, we can help you.

  • What degree of hearing loss is considered moderate?

Moderate hearing loss means you may struggle to hear sounds between 41–55 decibels, like normal conversations, especially in noisy places.

  • What level of hearing loss is considered hard of hearing?

“Hard of hearing” generally refers to people with mild to severe hearing loss who may benefit from hearing aids but don’t rely solely on sign language for communication.

  • How to reverse hearing loss naturally?

Most permanent hearing loss cannot be reversed naturally. However, protecting your ears from loud noises, managing health conditions, and getting a hearing test early can prevent further damage.
